March 2018

We had a great day in downtown Pittsburgh with lunch together at Pork & Beans and an afternoon at the opera. The Pittsburgh Opera put on a production of Moby Dick.

We went to the movies for our March excursion to see Black Panther.
We journeyed to the Heinz History Center and spent time with an archivist in the Detre Library and Archives. The Archives has a rich collection that tell a story of our region’s history.

It was the final date for Shelter: Crafting a Safe Home at Society for Contemporary Craft. We joined in the celebration and saw a dance performance by Kaitlyn Flynn Goodwin and Emily V. Koch. The exhibition featured crafts related to issues of housing displacement and insecurity. So we explored those themes in our journals.

Our group attended the Summit Against Racism and participated in conversations about creating paths for justice.

We supported our community member at the Down Syndrome Association’s Buddy Walk.
