We spent the afternoon exploring the Pittsburgh International Airport and their art initiatives. We rode the terminal transportation, saw sculptures like Arch by Glenn Kaino and the iconic Franco Harris sculpture, the mosaic floor The Sky Beneath Our Feet by Clayton Merrill and the Tuskegee Airmen exhibition.

The Summer Reading Extravaganza provided a great June day of craft making, storytelling, and outdoor fun!

We explored the Hill District neighborhood and learned about the art in public places, the important sites like the childhood home of playwright August Wilson, and enjoyed some musical instrument demonstrations at the Hill House Association.

We explored our own neighborhood on a walk that featured memorable places and recent neighborhood changes.

Fashion was on full display at the Carnegie Museum of Art when the AEU seniors visited for the exhibition Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion. We took a guided tour of the exhibition which featured cutting-edge design by the Dutch fashion designer. van Herpen uses technology like laser cutting and 3D printed to create her other-worldly garments.

Traveling outside of Pittsburgh, we headed to Ohio. We spent the day exploring the Cleveland Museum of Art.

Duquesne University provided a backdrop for art and active exploration. We took a tour with Office of Public Art to see the murals on campus.

Then we bounced into the gym to play some basketball and cheer on the Duquesne Dukes.

We attended the 19th Summit Against Racism at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. The conference focused on race relations in the United States through a range of workshops, panels, discussions, activities, and performances.
