Families journeyed to Downtown Pittsburgh, on the 56 and 57 bus lines, to enjoy an afternoon of ice skating. The sun was out, the temperature was high and the ice was slippery. Adults and youth skated around the rink!
We hosted a neighborhood excursion on a vacant lot that was on its way to becoming a sculpture garden on Second avenue near the Glenwood bridge. Youth, adults and elders spent time observing, drawing and experiencing the plants and animals in the lot.
We partnered with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy on this afternoon.
A Pittsburgh summer is not complete without a visit to Kennywood!
Hazelwood families spent an August day cooling off on the Pittsburgh Plunge, riding the roller coasters, carousel and winning cool prizes. Heading to Kennywood was a fun way for us to get together (after a six month excursion hiatus!) before school begins.
A group of 40 AEU crew members took a long weekend trip to New York City. The community decided on what sites to visit during the planning process.

We took a ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, explored the 9/11 Memorial, had a tour and workshop at the Guggenheim, and toured MoMA on our own. In between our visits, we explored the city and the festive magic of NYC at the holidays.
